The upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 tournament is going to be very exciting for the cricket lovers. ICC has changed a lot in this. Due to which the match is going to be very exciting now. As it is known today that till now only 12 teams have been able to play in the T20 World Cup tournament, but now 20 teams will play in the T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the next T20 World Cup. The West Indies and the United States are going to host together. That is, this time this tournament can be held in two countries.
Let us see what major changes have been made by ICC in the format for this T20 World Cup 2024-
1- Now in the next T20 World Cup to be held in 2024, 20 teams will play, till now only 12 teams used to play.
2- Under the new change, now this tournament with 20 teams will be played in total three stages including knockout.
3- All 20 teams will be divided into total 5 groups of 4-4.
Top 2 teams of 4-five groups will enter in Super-8.
5-While after this all the eight teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4-4.
6- In the Super-8 stage, the top two teams from both the groups will enter the semi-finals.
7- Two teams will make it to the final through two semi-final matches.
8-12 teams have already booked their places for this World Cup
9- The West Indies and the United States, being the hosts, qualified directly for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
10- The top 8 teams from the Super-12 stage of T20-2022 have got direct entry for T20-2024. These include New Zealand, England, Australia, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, South Africa and the Netherlands.
Afghanistan and Bangladesh have also got direct entry on the basis of 11-ICC rankings (14 November).
The remaining 8 teams for the 12-T20 World Cup 2024 will be decided on the basis of regional qualification.
13- Africa, Asia and Europe have two qualification spots each in this qualification.
14-While America and East Asia Pacific have 1-1 slots left.
15- Teams like Zimbabwe, Namibia, Scotland, Ireland will have a golden chance to make a place through regional qualification.
